Steel plants — electric-arc furnaces, converters, continuous-casting lines, rolling mills — subject cables to intense thermal radiation, elevated ambient temperatures and permanent fire risk. OR64 supplies phlogopite mica tapes that retain their electrical-insulation properties at temperatures up to 1000°C, allowing cables to be built that guarantee circuit integrity under the most demanding conditions. Mica Tapes for Extreme Temperatures
Phlogopite mica offers the highest thermal resistance in the range: up to 1000°C. Greater flexibility than muscovite, which eases taping of small cross-sections and high-speed processing. Halogen-free and free of toxic gases. Muscovite mica (750–950°C) is the alternative for applications where the test temperature is lower.

Standard grade for zones with lower thermal exposure. Maximum dielectric strength. Better cost-to-performance ratio when the test temperature does not exceed 950°C.

Separator between cable components
Non-woven polyester (NWP) acts as a separator between cable components, eases stripping and improves extrusion. Short-term thermal stability of 230°C, suitable for cables in demanding industrial environments. Seven thicknesses available with permanent stock.

OR64 materials enable the cable manufacturer to build products that meet the main fire-resistance standards. In steel plants, circuit integrity is critical for safety, process-control and evacuation systems.
Mica Taping Service
OR64's in-house conductor mica-taping service. Five vertical double-head lines with 80 km/day capacity. Single or double-layer taping per standard. Standard or high-quality grade depending on conductor cross-section and taping speed. OR64 material or toll processing on customer conductor.
Mica side in contact with copper. For steel-industry applications we recommend phlogopite mica for its higher thermal resistance.
